The creative work to make a very intricate NBA trading card was vetted out with the end result being new manufacturing processes. The task, create some design for a “new design” to wow NBA trading card company vendors. Through research, creating working prototypes and production models, a two-sided mirror image card was created. For the card company this meant a player shape suspended within a card. The player shape was suspended on top of a clear pane inside the card frame creating a whole lot of pop – NBA players jumping off the cards. The first run was an insert die-cut card within a 1999 card series. The die-cut player cards were so cool, several companies created full card runs where the entire card set was die-cut with the windows beneath the players. Spin-off projects also included limited edition card designs for jerseys, shoes, basketball pieces, parts of arena floors and more!
